Cuthona yamasui (Yamasu’s cuthona)

Identification

Dark brown or blue, and sometimes white body, slender rhinophores, lots of cerata with yellow or gold tips. The rhinophores and oral tentacles are always dark brown or black.

Status

Unassessed by the IUCN Red list.

Habitat

It can be found throughout the Indo-West Pacific up to Australia and Japan. It is usually on or nearby hydroids which it feeds on, in a depth range of 0-25 meters.

Reproduction

Size

Up to 5cm.

Prey / Predation

It feeds on hydroids.

Special features

This species is highly variable in color patterns, but the gold or yellow cerata tips are the identification characteristic.
