Chromis flavaxilla (Arabian chromis)

Identification

Olivebrown with black tail lobes, base of the pectoral fin is yellow, the outer edges of the dorsal, ventral and anal fin are dark and have a bright blue line.

Habitat

Western Indian Ocean: Arabian Peninsula from the northern Red Sea to the Persian Gulf. Adults form aggregations on reefs to feed on zooplankton and take shelter in branching corals. They live in a depth range of 0-18 meters.

Reproduction

Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding. Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate. Males guard and aerate the eggs

Size

Up to 7cm.
