Chromis analis (Yellow chromis)

Identification

Bright to brownish yellow with bright yellow fins. Dusky band at the base of the dorsal fin and whitish pectoral fins. They can appear solitary or in groups.

Status

Unassessed by the IUCN Red list, and uncommon. They do live in the Western Indo-Pacific.

Habitat

They can be found on steep outer reef slopes and rocky bottoms, in a depth range of 10-70 meters.

Reproduction

Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding. Eggs are laid on the bottom and stick to the substrate, the males guard and aerate the eggs.

Size

Up to 15cm.

Prey / Predation

They feed on small zooplankton and algae.
