Centropyge bicolor (Bicolor angelfish)

Identification

Bright yellow head and forebody, deep blue behind with yellow tail, blue saddle across the forehead extending to the eyes. It lives in pairs or small groups. It moves around by swimming from one hiding place to the next.

Status

Least concern on the IUCN Red List. This species is exported for commercial aquaria, but that does not have a significant impact on the global population.

Habitat

Indo-Pacific: East Africa to the Samoan and Phoenix Islands, north to southern Japan, south to New Caledonia; throughout Micronesia. Inhabits lagoons, channels, or protected seaward reef slopes, drop offs, coral and rubble areas. It can be found in a depth range of 1-25 meters.

Up to 15cm.

Prey / Predation

Feeds on algae, small crustaceans and worms.

Special features

It is collected for aquaria to some extent, but that does not have an effect on the global population so far.
