Eel-like shape, brown to gray with blackish translucent fins and faint bars on the head, large eye with a vertically elongated pupil, well developed pectoral fins.
Rarely seen.
Indonesia and the Philippines, South Japan to the East China sea. It lives on sand, rubble or mud bottoms. Found in a depth range of 5-20 meters.
