Dark brown color, yellow pectoral fin edge, tail sometimes is a bit lighter with a vertical white tail base.
Common in the Red Sea.
Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Schooling on the outer edges of lagoons or reefs, in a depth range of 1-67 meters.
Reproduction by spawning and fertilization shortly after.
Up to 40cm.
Feeds on algae in sand or rubble. They are often seen around boats, eating sewage or food remains.
Not a shy species. Resembles Acanthurus leucocheilus from the Gulf of Aden en the Pacific, but lacking the white chin strap and slightly smaller.
