Ancylomenes sarasvati (Sarasvati anemone shrimp)

Identification

Translucent with white and blue to purple markings, white saddle marking encircled with blue or purple on abdominal hump.

Status

Not yet assessed by the IUCN Red list, but commonly distributed in the tropics.

Habitat

West-Pacific and Japan. Inhabits a variety of anemones.

Size

Up to 2,5cm.

Prey / Predation

They feed on plankton

Special features

This species was only recently described (2002), and formerly named Periclimenes sarasvati. It is a cleaner shrimp.
