Cirrhitichthys calliurus (Oman hawkfish)

Identification

Orange-brown color with darker blotches, white tail with brown spots. It lives solitary or in pairs.

Status

Unevaluated by the IUCN Red list. Due to its limited habitat it is more vulnerable to any threats.

Habitat

Western Indian Ocean: Gulf of Aden to the Gulf of Oman. It can be found on stony and coral reefs in a depth range of 1-30 meters, but usually below 15 meters.

Up to 12cm.

Prey / Predation

They feed on zooplankton, small fish and invertebrates
